How Nepal uses it
Government offices, schools, newspapers, citizenship papers and passports in Nepal use BS dates. The weekend is Saturday. Many festivals, such as Dashain and Tihar, follow the lunar calendar instead, so their Gregorian dates move each year. Newar communities also keep Nepal Sambat, a lunar calendar now in the year 1146 NS.
